It’s 2021, but the building and design awards for 2020 keep coming!
We are delighted to announce recent awards for two North Carolina projects. And we’re grateful to the architects, engineers, and subcontractors we partnered with to create these amazing custom homes. Most of all, we’re grateful to the clients, who trusted us with their time, vision, money, and future.
Best in American Living Award
This 2,260 square-foot modern house in the mountain community Pathways of Solomon Jones won the 2020 One-of-a-Kind Custom Home Best in American Living Award (BALA).
For 37 years, the BALAs have honored the most creative and talented building professionals in the US and beyond. BALAs are awarded by the National Association of Home Builders. This federation represents the largest network of residential builders and developers in the US.
The exterior of this minimalist home alternates blonde cedar with gray siding and a monoslope roof. The interior has soaring ceilings, an open floor plan and sustainable materials. Large windows let in sweeping Blue Ridge Mountain views. A sunroom and large raised deck allow the family to enjoy outdoor living, no matter the weather. The home is carefully sited along a steep slope, to maximize views and minimize environmental impact.
Best Architecture & Best Residential Interior USA Property Awards
We recently completed construction on this French inspired modern mansion in Asheville, which won Best Architecture and Best Residential Interior for North Carolina from the USA Property Awards. Best Architecture was only awarded to seven projects in the entire US. Since 1994, the International Property Awards have celebrated the highest achievement in architecture and design. Congratulations to the Asheville-based ACM Design, who did both the design and interior of this gorgeous house!
Inspired in equal parts by French Renaissance architecture and modern mountain living, the home pairs a stone and glass exterior with massive windows and contemporary interior details. The interior was designed to facilitate the flow of light and people, and to showcase the residents’ international art collection. Most of the fixtures are custom.
This luxury home represents a unique and intentional approach to aging in place. It was custom built by a couple and a close friend, who want to age together, but with a degree of private space. To that end, the home includes two master bedrooms, a full kitchen as well as a kitchenette, and both private and communal indoor and outdoor living areas.
